RemarksOriginally delivered to the JASDF as 02-7969 this Sabre was returned to the US and became part of the USN drone programme. It could be flown manned or unmanned. The photographer is the shadow in the middle!!

RemarksVery late afternoon during an exercise and my first sighting of one of the ex USN F-4Js in RAF service with 74 Squadron. These very quickly gained black fins, setting a trend for a colourful era of Phantoms in the UK but pictures are rarer without it!! Also as one of the last to be delivered the piant was barley grey! This was former 155894.

RemarksFormer RAF RF342 this aircraft was used on icing trials by Napiers. It had a modified Lancaster nose. This airframe is supposedly in pieces in Lincolnshire but rumour has it that it is beyond restoration!!

RemarksThis was a former British United Airways 1-11 used by the RAE Bedford. It was purchased by the MOD in 1971, eventually becoming part of the QinetiQ fleet of trials aircraft. It was the first aircraft with a coloured 'glass' flight deck and was instrumental in the development of blind landing techniques.
